Motor Homes Germany is an agency and not the principal hiring company for the products displayed on this website. Motor Homes Germany will assist its clients as far as is possible with any dispute which may arise with principals, but is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, death or perceived disadvantage which may be incurred arising from any action or omission by such principals.

2. Rates include

The rental prices include:

• VAT
  
• Unlimited kilometres
  
• Vehicle Insurance (with €1000 deductible/excess liability per damage).
  
• Third party insurance.
  
• Equipment and accessories appropriate to vehicle (excluding "optional extras" itemised below).
  
• Rental is charged on a 24-hour basis.
  
• Maps and campsite guides are NOT provided.

3. Security Deposit, Excess Liability & Additional Costs

Security Deposit

• €1000
  
• payable on pick-up
  
• payable by Visa or MasterCard only - the card is charged
  
• refunded 7 to 14 days after drop-off, if the vehicle is returned in a clean, undamaged condition.
  

  Excess Liability (Deductible)

• The renter is liable for up to €1000 deductible per damage (excess liability), provided that the rental property is used in accordance with the contract. For damage caused by malintent, negligence or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, the limitation of liability is null & void.
  
• The deductible can be reduced to €500 by means of purchasing Liability Reduction of €8.50 per day.
  
• Please note that a Security Deposit of €1000 is payable even if Liability Reduction is purchased.
  

  Additional Costs

• Handling Fee: € 130 (mandatory, pre-pay with rental fee)
  
• Saturday surcharge: € 65 (for collection/return on a Saturday)
  
• Amendment fee: € 20 (charge for every booking amendment made after first invoice has been issued)
  
• Interior cleaning: € 120 (charged after drop-off, if vehicle is dirty on return)
  
• Toilet cleaning: € 100 (charged after drop-off, if necessary)
  
• Diesel: € 2.50 (per litre, including service)
  
• Late return: € 26 per hour (up to daily rate)
  

4. Optional Extras

These items must be pre-booked and pre-paid with the rental fee (otherwise amendment fees will be incurred for changes made after invoicing):

• Liability Reduction: €8.50 (per day)
  
• Bedding: €45 (per person, per rental)
  
• Towel set: €16 (per person, per rental)
  
• Camp table: €5 (per table, per rental)
  
• Camp chairs: €5 (per chair, per rental)
  
• Child safety seat: €19 (per person, per rental)
  
• Child cushion: €10 (per person, per rental)
  
• Snow chains: €49 (per rental, to hire)…plus…€49 additional cost if the chains are used.
  
• Bicycle rack: free of charge; on request only (max. 1 rack per vehicle - holds 3 bikes)
  
• Kitchen utensils: free of charge; on request only!
  

  Please note:

• A bed set is for 1 person and consists of: 1 sheet, 1 duvet, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case and 1 quilt cover.
• A towel set is for 1 person and consists of: 1 towel, 1 shower towel and 1 tea towel.
  
• A child's safety seat is necessary according to German law for children under 12 years or smaller than 1.50m. For children from 6 to 12 years, a child cushion may be sufficient if the safety belt suits them.
  
• Optional Extras cannot be ordered at the rental depot on pick-up day (for storage reasons).
• Extras must be booked when making the reservation.
  
• Fuel and operating costs must be borne by the renter. The vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned likewise.

5. Minimum Hire

Please refer to the Rate Table for minimum hire periods relevant to each season.

6. Drivers, Licences & Passports

• minimum age: 21 years
  
• valid national driving licence required
  
• heavy-duty ("truck") driving licence required for Groups 5, 6 & 7 - that is, a licence with a total permissbale weight of over 3.5 tons.
  
• no extra charge for additional driver
  
• passport must be presented at the rental depot on pick-up, OR a certified copy with original stamp (if original passport is not available)
  
• hirer must show his/her passsport and drivers licence on pick-up.
  

7. Depots, Depot Hours, Pick-up & Drop-off Times

Depots

Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich.

NOTE: One-way hires are NOT permitted. Vehicles must be returned to the same depot.

Depot Hours

October to March:
Monday to Friday: 09h00 - 17h00
Saturdays: closed
April to September:
Monday to Friday: 08h00 - 18h00
Saturday: 09h00 - 12h00 (on request & surcharge applies)
Sundays/public holidays: closed.

Pick-up & Drop-off times

Pick-up: Monday to Friday 3pm - 5pm (except winter months: only until 4pm!)
Drop-off: Monday to Friday 9am - 10am
** If clients wish to pick-up in the morning or drop-off in the afternoon, there will be a charge for one extra day.
** Pick-ups and drop-offs on Saturdays are only available from April to September from 9am to 12 midday. Clients are charged an additional Saturday fee of €65 for each pick-up or drop-off on a Saturday.
** The detailed explanation and demonstration on the use of the vehicle will take about one hour. The explanation of the motorhome by the depot staff is only possible in German or English.

8. Reservations, Payment & Cancellation

To Make a Reservation

• Availability is on a request-and-confirm basis at the time of reservation.
  
• Please complete & submit the Reservation Form (for Germany).
  
• Reservations are only binding after they have been confirmed by the rental company and a downpayment has been received.
  
• Once the reservation is confirmed, an invoice will be issued by email.
  
  Payment
• Payment is by credit card only (Visa or MasterCard) in Euros:
• Downpayment: charged to credit card at time of invoicing.
  (approx. 10% - 15% of rental cost)
  
• Balance: charged to credit card 28 days before pick-up
  
• For "last-minute" bookings (made less than 28 days before departure) the full rental price must be paid immediately after invoicing.

Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed before pick-up.

Once payment is complete, a Voucher will be issued confirming full payment and containing all rental details, plus address & contact details of the relevant depot.

A Security Deposit (€1000) is required on departure - it will be refunded within 14 days after drop-off if the vehicle is returned in good, clean condition and after the final rental account has been calculated. All extras, such as tank costs, interior cleaning, toilet cleaning, etc will be deducted from the Security Deposit.

Cancellation Fees

If the rental is cancelled before pick-up date, the hirer must pay the following portions of the expected rental price with reference to the reservation dates:

• More than 50 days: 10%
  
• 50 - 15 days: 50%
  
• 14 - 1 days: 80%
  
• Day of departure / No show: 95%
  
• Early return: 100% (no refund). Vehicles damaged during a hire to the extent of being unusable will be treated as an early return.

• 1 November 2005 (Tuesday): Munich & Dusseldorf depots closed (All Saints Day)

** Pick-up & drop-off is not possible on the above dates when depots are closed **

10. Permitted Areas of travel

• Trips abroad to other countries within Europe are possible (no extra charge).
  
• Most of Western Europe and Great Britain permitted.
  
• Eastern Europe & non-European countries: on request and by special arrangement only.
• Special authorisation must be arranged before pick-up date and then obtained from the rental depot on pick-up.
  
• War torn areas are forbidden.
  
• Please ask Ashtons for clarification, specifying your intended tour area.
  
• Please note: it is more difficult to get help in case of an accident or technical problems when clients travel to Eastern European or Non-European countries.
• Austria: please note that Austria has a new toll fee system for their highways for vehicles over 3.5 tons total permissible weight ("go-box"). Further information about this is available fom Ashtons Direct on request.

11. Availability

Availability of vehicles can only be confirmed finally at time of booking.

12. Vehicle Groups
Please note that a vehicle group can have different vehicle types. Only a vehicle group can be reserved, not a certain vehicle within this group.

13. Replacement vehicles

• If the reserved Group vehicle is not available due to unforeseen circumstances, a vehicle which is comparable or larger in size & equipment will be provided.
  
• The hirer will not have to pay extra if they are given a bigger vehicle.
  
• Should a smaller vehicle be offered & accepted, the difference in price between the two vehicles will be reimbursed.

14. Return of vehicles

Vehicles must be returned at the time specified in the rental contract with full diesel tank.
Vehicles must also be returned in the same clean condition (inside & outside) as they were delivered to the client.
